Park on the gravel shoulders along Forestway Drive (easy and recommended), or in the bike trail parking lot on the south side of Tower Road, just west of Forestway, approximately 0.4 mile southwest - follow the bike trail east/north from the parking lot.
Join volunteers at another family-friendly Yale Day of Service workday at the Skokie Lagoons (dug by the Civilian Conservation Corps between 1933 and 1942). As in the past several years, we’ll be removing invasive species (cutting down buckthorn and uprooting garlic mustard) in an environmental restoration effort. Wear long pants, long sleeves, and closed-toe work shoes that you can afford to get muddy.
Children can help or just look for bugs and other cool things. Afterwards, conditions permitting, we’ll burn a brushpile and enjoy a hotdog, brat and hamburger cookout under what will undoubtedly will be sunny, Yale-blue skies. Bring your appetite; tools and work gloves provided.
