Join Christodora’s New Youth Conservationists to help Bronx River Flotilla participants manage a portage in the New York Botanical Garden, wheeling canoes down a path from the takeout point to put-in on the other side of a waterfall. This is a duty that we as a team proudly take care of every year and it is essential to the success of this wonderful event!
Christodora is a unique 121-year old nonsectarian non-profit organization that helps underserved New York City youth learn and grow through environmental awareness, hands-on STEM experience and wilderness immersion. We serve 3,000 students annually in public school classrooms, urban parks, and wilderness sites, including the Yale School of Forestry Camp.
Team meeting will start promptly at 8:45 am. Please leave time for parking or travel delays.
Refreshments will be served.
Come enjoy the day with friends and our inspiring students.
Physical stamina required. Involves working as a team to lift canoes onto wheeled dolly and walking them quite a distance over the course of the morning.
Some spots also available for “greeter” volunteers who will be assigned to stand in a set location and provide information to participants.
