Why is service important to Yale? Yale alumni around the world will participate in the first-ever global Yale Day of Service on May 16, 2009. Coordinated by the Association of Yale Alumni, the day will bring thousands of Yale alumni and their families and friends of all ages together to volunteer in their local communities. Service projects are organized through local Yale Clubs and other Yale-based groups and range from serving meals at soup kitchens, to construction with Habitat for Humanity, to tutoring, to park cleanups and more. There are over 175 sites in 40 states and 12 countries.
