Tiburon parking is best in back of the Bank of America (or the other lots farther from the water) at 1601 Tiburon Blvd. Parking is $5 for the entire day. You should bring your own lunch to eat in between the shows.
Please arrive in time to the Tiburon ferry dock at 21 Main Street to board the state park boat to take you to the island. You will be given training about the different tasks by Lenora Lee Dance staff.
Recently featured in the Yale Alumni Magazine, the Yale Day of Service project at the Angel Island Immigration Station has been running for several years. Usually we clean up the grounds and then have a tour of the historic immigration station. This year, the acclaimed Lenora Lee Dance company will present “Within These Walls,” which uses dance to tell the story of the Immigration Station.
Volunteer times / tasks:
- Angel Island dock - 8:30am to 1:00pm (greeting and directing audience members toward the Immigration Station; you should be able to leave in time to make it to the 1 p.m. show
- 2nd Angel Island dock - 8:30am to 1:00pm (same)
- Immigration station box office - sell tickets - 8:30am to 3:00pm
- 2nd immigration station usher - 8:30am to 3:00pm
I saw the premiere of the show in 2017 and went back to see it again. It’s really beautiful and shows the immigration experience in a way you’ve never seen.
