The Oregon Humane Society’s Doggie Dash Walk/Run is their biggest fundraiser of the year. OHS is the largest and oldest humane society in the Northwest. This year marks their 150th year helping animals.  Last year, OHS found homes for more than 11,600 pets, investigated more than 1,000 reports of animal cruelty, and reached 14,000 people through its humane education programs.
Please join the wonderful group of volunteers who make this event happen. This year there are two options for DOS participants:
Course Monitors (7:30–11:30 am): Cheer on participants and point them in the right direction along the route. Some positions will be stationed at water stations to hand out water to people and dogs. Volunteers must be at least 16 years of age and willing to walk and stand for long periods of time. Need to be assertive; recommend only adults or adult/teen combos.
Registration Tent (6:30–10:00 am): Help guide people in line, hand out registration forms, process registrations, collect pledge money, and hand out t-shirts. Must have good customer service skills, enjoy a fast-paced environment and be detail oriented. Minimum age 18.
Public transportation is a good option for this event.  If driving, there are several SmartPark garages that serve this area, and street parking is often available. The garage nearest the Doggie Dash at Waterfront Park is on SE 3rd and Alder – 620 SW 3rd Ave.
