If you would like to attend but do not have transportation, a volunteer can pick you up at the University train station.

We are teaming up with the Mass Audubon Annual Statewide Volunteer Day!
Help prepare the grounds of the Blue Hills Trailside Museum for spring by raking leaves, clearing debris from a stream bed, removing invasive plants, and spreading mulch where needed. These areas surround our native wildlife exhibits at the base of Great Blue Hill. This project is appropriate for volunteers age 14 and up. Minors must be accompanied by an adult guardian. If you would like to bring younger children, please ensure a non-volunteering adult is able to be with them to go hiking or explore the museum.
While you’re here, enjoy the exhibits and our beautiful duck pond. After we work, have your brown bag lunch at our picinic tables, then stay to check out our natural history museum and the April art exhibit. Up for a short hike? Trailside is conveniently located at the trailheads of several popular routes for those seeking either a leisurely stroll or a more challenging climb to Eliot Tower at the summit of Great Blue Hill.
This is an outdoor project. Please wear clothing appropriate for the weather, including long pants and closed-toe shoes. Insect repellent, a shade-providing hat, and sunscreen are recommended. Please bring a water bottle and bag lunch. Bring your own work gloves and a rake, if you have them. A limited number of gloves and rakes will be available at the museum.
