Manhattan: Governors Island Farm Zero Waste Pavilion - Postponed Due to Weather

Take the ferry to Governors Island from Battery Maritime Building (an ornate Beaux Arts ferry terminal directly to the East of the Staten Island Ferry Terminal).
Description: 
Members of the Yale community will help to build a Zero Waste Island Pavilion for composting of visitors’ trash on Governors Island. This structure is part of the effort to minimize the overall environmental impact of trash generated and the compost is used at sites all around New York City.
 
Schedule:
9:45 am Arrive @ BMB ferry terminal in Manhattan 
10:00 am Ferry to GI
10:15 am Arrive @ Earth Matter Compost Learning Center on foot
10:30 am Introductions and Overview of activities 
10:45-12:00 pm Break into groups for hands-on project – build a zero waste island pavilion
12:00- 12:30 pm Lunch
12:30 - 2:45pm Continue with morning activities 
2:45 pm Group huddle, share “favorite moments” from day, take photo
TBD Ferry Back to Manhattan
 
Please bring: 
Water bottle, lunch, sunscreen
Clothes to get dirty in and appropriate for weather, hat, close-toed/sturdy shoes
Signed Photo permission slip
 
Earth Matter will provide:
Aprons for clothes protection, gloves, tools, 
Soap and water to wash up, fill water bottles

SIGNED PERMISSION SLIPS NEED TO BE SCANNED OR PHOTOGRAPHED, AND EMAILED TO SITE COORDINATOR ONE WEEK PRIOR TO EVENT.
