Branford: Horse Island Clean up and Trail Build with the Yale Peabody Museum

Description: 
Join the Yale Peabody Museum on Horse Island as we maintain the property, collect trash, remove invasive plants and improve the trail system.
 
Horse Island, owned by the Yale Peabody Museum, is one of the Thimble Islands in the Long Island Sound near the village of Stony Creek in Branford, CT.
 
For the morning session (8:30 am to 12:30 pm):
Participants will catch the ferry from the Stony Creek Dock at 8:30 am and receive an orientation on Horse Island at 9:00 am. You will be able to choose the project(s) you’d like to work on for the morning. Please feel free to bring a picnic lunch. You’ll return to the Stony Creek Dock between 12:30 and 1:00 pm.
 
For the afternoon session (12:00 pm to 4:00 pm):
Participants will catch the ferry from the Stony Creek Dock at 12:00 pm and receive an orientation on Horse Island at 12:30 pm. You will be able to choose the project(s) you’d like to work on for the afternoon. Please feel free to bring a picnic lunch. You’ll return to the Stony Creek Dock between 4:00 and 4:30 pm.
 
Participants will encounter poison ivy and may encounter ticks and mosquitoes; sun exposure may also be a concern.
 
Parking is limited at the Stony Creek Dock area, so arrive early enough to find parking. 
 
NOTE: Children must be at least 12 years old and accompanied by an adult
