Yale volunteers will help with the weekly Saturday pantry distribution. At 7 a.m. volunteers assist with the set up of the choice pantry shelves, stocking of the shelves, and preparation of the fresh produce to be distributed to each family. At 8 a.m. the pantry opens to our clients, and volunteers will act as personal shoppers assisting clients with their shopping while other volunteers will hand out produce and frozen meat. At 10 a.m. as the pantry closes, volunteers will assist in breaking down the pantry.
It is likely that there will be 30-50 families who will seek pantry items. People who access the pantry will be of all ethnicities and ages. Our pantry is used by the unemployed, underemployed, and elderly who experience food insecurity issues. Volunteers will find this a safe, community spirited environment.
Children 13 years and older are welcome to volunteer with their parent.
