1 in 6 Ohioans are hungry, and according to a recent study, more than 2 million Ohio residents (including 500,000 children) live in food deserts, without access to fresh, healthy produce. The Clarfield Urban Farm was launched to help combat these statistics. Itself located in a food desert, the farm spans 3 acres and produces thousands of pounds of produce annually for Ohio families.
The Yale Club of Central Ohio will be working at the farm on May 13 to help support their good work. Potential tasks include the following:
  • Preparing and amending the beds
  • Planting crops
  • Site clean-up including trash pick-up
  • Crop maintenance (weeding, mulching, etc.)
  • Harvest help
  • Other miscellaneous farm tasks
Other information:
  • Volunteers need to bring their own water.
  • Port-a-Potty available on site.
  • Volunteers should wear closed toe shoes and clothes that can get dirty.
  • Volunteers will be outside the entire time so please dress in layers and bring a hat and sunscreen.
