Parking is limited at the Stony Creek Dock area, so arrive early enough to find parking.

Description: 
Join the Yale Peabody Museum on Horse Island as we collect trash, remove brush, and complete the trail system. Horse Island, owned by the Peabody Museum, is one of the Thimble Islands in the Long Island Sound near the village of Stony Creek in Branford, CT. For the morning shift which runs from 8:30 am until 12:30 pm, participants will catch the ferry from the Stony Creek Dock at 8:30 am and receive an orientation on Horse Island at 9:00 am. You will be able to choose the projects(s) you’d like to work on for the morning. Please feel free to bring a picnic lunch. You’ll return to the Stony Creek Dock between 12:30 and 1:00 pm.

For the afternoon session, participants will catch the ferry from the Stony Creek Dock at 12:00 pm and receive an orientation on Horse Island at 12:30 pm. You will be able to choose the projects(s) you’d like to work on for the afternoon. Please feel free to bring a picnic lunch at the beginning of the session. You’ll return to the Stony Creek Dock between 4:00 and 4:30 pm.

NOTE: not open to children under 12

Poison ivy is prevalent on the island and participants may encounter ticks and mosquitoes; sun exposure may also be a concern.
