Refugee and Immigrant Support Services of Emmaus (RISSE) helps refugees and recent immigrants transition to life in the Capital Region by offering ESL classes for adults, after-school and summer programming for children and youth, and support with life skills and integration into U.S. culture and the local community.
This year Yale alumni in the Capital Region will support this work by painting classrooms, cleaning and organizing interior spaces, and gardening and painting outdoors if the weather cooperates.
We will break for lunch – either bring your own or a dish to share for a group potluck that we’ll coordinate closer to the event.
RISSE collects donations of clothing, shoes, and household items to distribute to the people they serve, so if you have items that you no longer need, bring them along. Contact RISSE first if you have furniture or appliances to donate to make sure they have an immediate need for them.
Join us for this great opportunity to fill a need in our community while catching up with fellow alumni in our region!
